Joey Ellefritz was born in Menlo Park, California and is pursuing a BA in Psychology- to be completed 2019.
His primary work in the field has comprised of counseling & mentorship positions at Hillview Middle School.
In his work with Flight School programs, Joey assisted the summer school faculty as an assistant in organizing and instructing curriculum. As well, he served as a liaison between the young students and newer faculty.
As part of the Pivot program, Joey spent his time practicing and developing socio-emotional skills with at-risk adolescents enrolled at Hillview. He mentored a small group of boys in their schoolwork, social skills, and behavioral issues.
Joey’s musical experience is comprised of years of lessons, recitals, and performances through the Reikes Organization. The Reikes Center is a nonprofit organization that offers several programs in fitness, creative arts, and nature awareness. His primary instructors were Aidan Young and Geoff McCann.
Joey has been a part of several bands throughout his career, most notably as guitarist for The Reikestra on their Reikestra Takes Barcelona tour (2015) and Reikestra Takes Sitges tour (2016). As a member of the Reikestra, Joey’s role in mentoring and teaching younger students allowed him to learn and perform pieces from a wide range of genres and styles and hours of experience in a professional studio environment alongside fellow students and teachers.
